France reports second highest number of new COVID-19 cases on record

PARIS (Reuters) – French health authorities on Wednesday reported 8,577 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus, the second highest number of additional daily infections on record since the disease began to spread in the country at the end of the winter.

The number of people who died in France from COVID-19 infections increased by 30, to 30,794, after an increase of 38 on Tuesday. The cumulative number of cases now stands at 344,101.
