France reports more than 500,000 cases of coronavirus in total for the first time

PARIS (Reuters) – France reported that its total number of coronavirus cases jumped by more than 500,000 for the first time, as it recorded 15,797 new confirmed cases on Friday, just below a daily record of 16,096 set Thursday.

The total number of cases now stands at 513,034, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

The number of people who have died from the infection has increased by 150 – triple the daily level last week – to 31,661.
