France reports 8,550 new daily COVID-19 infections

PARIS (Reuters) – French health authorities reported 8,550 new confirmed cases of coronavirus on Saturday, up from 8,975 on Friday.

Friday’s figure set a new all-time high for additional daily infections since the disease began to spread across the country in late winter.

The number of people who have died in France from COVID-19 has increased from 12 to 30,698, and the cumulative number of cases now stands at 317,706.
