The original tweet she retweeted read, “In life you are going to fall out with people you never thought you would. Be betrayed by people you trust with all your heart. Get used to people you would do anything for. But life has a bright side too.
“You will be loved by someone you never thought you had. Form new friendships with people who will build more meaningful and solid relationships. And overcome things you never thought you would overcome.
“We all have chapters that end with people at some point in life. But take pride in knowing that the best part of your book is still being written. ”
At the time of the split, they reflected fondly on their 20-year marriage.
They said, “After more than 20 happy years together, Phil and I have decided to go our separate ways.
“We will always share a great friendship and our lovely children.
“We would appreciate our privacy being respected at this time.
“Thank you for your continued kindness and support. “
The couple had been a powerful couple on the showbiz circuit for 20 years.
They have their daughter Winnie who turned 18 earlier this year.
Fern also has three children – Harry, 26, Jack, 26 and Grace, 23 – from his first marriage to Clive Jones.
The newly-single star is focused on her writing and her latest book Daughters of Cornwall has since hit shelves.
In June, the author was candid about her “sad” separation from ex-husband Phil in a daytime television interview.
She told Lorraine, “Unfortunately, Phil and I have separated. And I had this book to write this book and bring it out on the deadline… ”
She added: “We parted ways earlier this year and luckily everything is going well.
“We just got to the end of the road, you know, which is sad. “
