With its victory at the 24 Heures Motos, the Japanese team is aiming for a new world champion title. Their immediate goal: to win the 12 Hours of Estoril with Josh Hook, Freddy Foray and Mike di Meglio on the new CBR 1000 RR-R.
After an unstable start to the season, FCC TSR Honda France arrived at Le Mans with a new 2020 CBR 1000 RR-R and went through the 24 Heures Motos. The Japanese-backed team took the win after monopolizing the lead for 752 of the 816 laps completed, establishing the fastest lap in the race.
Now 40 points behind the provisional leader Suzuki Endurance Racing Team, the Honda factory team is looking for a repeat at the 12 Hours of Estoril, the final of the 2019-2020 season to be held in Portugal on Saturday 26 September.
« The calculation is simple ”, dit Fujii. « For the final, we can get 67.5 points in total (pole position, 1st after 8 hours, and victory of the race). We will go to Estoril to try to get all these points. We have the team and the bike for that. Our job is to win. We will adapt our strategy according to the course of the race. 12 hours is a very long race!
Fujii also relies on Honda’s agility at Estoril, a physically demanding track. ” Our three riders were all comfortable on the bike at Le Mans. It is a very agile machine, easy to drive quickly. It was OK for a 24 hour race, so it will be even better for a 12 hour race!
The first practice sessions of the 12 Hours of Estoril will begin in Portugal on Wednesday 23 September.
