Employees of 2 grocery stores in Metro Vancouver test positive for COVID-19

VANCOUVER – Two grocery stores issued warnings on Monday after employees at their establishments tested positive for COVID-19. Both employees worked at Safeway, the company confirmed in an online statement.

Sobeys, owner of Safeway, said an employee at 3410 Kingsway tested positive. Their last day of work was September. 24.

And, in Surrey, the location at 15355 24 Ave. also had an employee who had been confirmed to have the disease. This employee’s last shift was September 23.

“We will do our utmost to update this information in a timely manner and as information becomes available to us, in accordance with public health guidelines,” the Sobeys advisory said.

“Where appropriate, we will contact customers who made their purchases in the affected location, with in-store signage, outlining our steps to handle the situation. ”

Last month, two other Safeway sites issued similar warnings. Both were in Surrey and one noted that three of his employees had tested positive for the disease.

Sobeys removes all warnings from its site after they are posted for 14 days.
