A third Edmonton school has been added to the province’s COVID-19 watchlist after four more cases were identified at Austin O’Brien High School.

Alberta Health Services identified two new cases of COVID-19 in Austin O’Brien on Tuesday and two more on Wednesday, with a total of six cases now confirmed, according to Edmonton Catholic Schools spokesperson Lori Nagy . A school is added to the provincial watch list when there are five or more confirmed cases.

Two other Edmonton schools had COVID-19 outbreaks on Wednesday. Louis St. Laurent high and junior high school with Edmonton Catholic had a second confirmed case on Tuesday. The school’s first case was reported on Monday.

AHS also confirmed that a second person tested positive for the virus at Aldergrove Elementary School. Edmonton Public Schools spokeswoman Megan Normandeau said AHS had indicated the two cases at the school were unrelated.
