Eagles rookie receiver Jalen Reagor suffered a tear at UCL on Sunday and will be out for at least several weeks.Reagor, 21, is expected to go to IR and have surgery to repair the tear, league sources told NBC Sports Philadelphia.

The UCL tear is the same injury that kept Drew Brees out of five games last year. This injury was on Brees’ throwing hand. So expect Reagor to miss at least three matches on IR and possibly more with this injury. A thumb injury is difficult for a catcher.

As NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark reported, there’s a chance Reagor won’t be back until the Eagles 9 week off.

But it doesn’t matter that Reagor was always a quick healer.

During training camp Reagor suffered a tear to his shoulder but was still able to return for the season opener. The initial delay with this injury was that he would be out for at least the first two weeks of the season, but he was able to play in week 1. If he’s a quick healer then maybe he can come back before. . the week off from this injury.

It’s also worth noting that the injury came in the loss to the Rams and Reagor was still able to finish the game. The kid is tough. He will obviously miss the Eagles during his absence. In his first two games, TCU’s first-round pick caught five passes for 96 yards.

Without Reagor, the Eagles have DeSean Jackson, Greg Ward, JJ Arcega-Whiteside and John Hightower as healthy receivers on their roster. Alshon Jeffery is on the roster but is still not training as he recovers from his 2019 Lisfranc injury. Rookie Quez Watkins is in IR but will be eligible to return from a back injury after next week.

In the short term, there’s a good chance Deontay Burnett will be high on the practice squad. The 22-year-old USC joined the Eagles last year and caught a massive 41-yard pass in the regular season finale. And then he had a great training camp this summer.

A few more notes on the Eagles’ injuries:

  • Fletcher Cox (oblique) is hand to mouth. He was not practicing on Wednesday. Cox was injured in the loss to the Rams.
  • Rudy Ford (groin) is week to week. Without him in practice Wednesday, Cre’Von LeBlanc and K’Von Wallace were the best gunners on the clearing team.
  • DeSean Jackson and Malik Jackson had days off on Wednesday.
