Warner Bros. has released a trailer teaser for Denis Villeneuveadaptation of Dune. Based on the novel by Frank Herbert, the first film of a planned star duology Timothée Chalamet as young Prince Paul Atreides as he navigates the various forces at work trying to control his planet’s precious resource, Melange, which enables space travel, prolongs life and improves mental abilities .
Villeneuve continues to improve with every movie and his recent sci-fi efforts—Arrival and Blade Runner 2049– have been excellent so I can’t wait to see what he does with them Dune. The big question for the film right now is whether it sticks firmly to its December 18 release date. Principe was supposed to be one of the main tentpoles of Warner Bros. for 2020, and the film only managed $ 20 million in its opening weekend in the United States, not bad for COVID, but a far cry from what the studio expected for a hit release. The arrival of a trailer tomorrow seems to indicate that the studio is still planning a December release, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they decided to mix it up. Dune in the summer of 2021, where he would have a better chance of delivering solid box office returns.
