Carlos Valdez and his wife love pineapple on their pizza. It’s the couple’s standing order from Papa John’s in Roy, Utah – but with their garnish of choice, Carlos and his wife have always requested that the pies be brought to them by their favorite delivery guy, Derlin Newey. At 89, Newey is much older than your average pizza delivery boy, but the Valdezes have fallen in love with the positive attitude of the elderly and his cheerful slogan: “Hello, are you looking for a pizza?”

The Valezs were so enamored with Newey’s charming manner that they started filming Newey’s dapper deliveries and posting them on their TikTok video stream. Soon he became something of a senior sensation with their 53,000 followers.

But as much as people loved Newey’s charisma, so much their comments expressed concern that an elderly man was still spending so many hours at work.

With that in mind, the Valzez decided to reach out to their fans in the hopes of raising some money to help Newey.

The answer was off the hook.
