Coronavirus cases are on the rise in 21 different U.S. states – nearly half the country – according to broadcaster CNN, which analyzed data from Johns Hopkins University.
The number of cases in those states increased by at least 10% last week, compared to the previous week.
These states are: Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington State, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
The figures raise fears of a new wave in autumn and winter with the drop in temperatures.
The United States has so far reported more than seven million confirmed cases of the virus and more than 200,000 deaths.
