Coronavirus outbreak in Camborne and Redruth as cases increase


Coronavirus figures released today show an increase in cases in Cornwall around Camborne.Figures from September 17 to 23 confirm that the outbreak in Camborne Pool and Redruth stands at 85 cases.

Pool and Illogan Highway led the way with 30 new cases. Camborne East saw 16, while there were eight in Camborne South and seven in Camborne West.

Redruth South had 10 new cases, Redruth North saw seven. Three new cases were confirmed around Illogan and Portreath, while Crowan, Wendron and Stithians had four.

There have been 37 confirmed positive tests today, the numbers show as well.

New clusters were recorded in Newquay East and Penzance North (both three), while Roche and Goss Moor accelerated to 10 cases. Two new cases have been confirmed in Bodmin West, while Bodmin West and Bodmin East have five cases.

Kingsand, Antony and Maryfield have 18 cases, while there are four at Penzance Quay and Newquay West. Lanreath, Pelynt and Polruan are on three cases.

It comes on a day when 18 more people infected with COVID-19 have been confirmed to have died in hospitals in the UK.

There have been 17 other deaths in England, one in Scotland and none in Wales or Northern Ireland.

None of them happened in the southwest.
