Sunday 7:32 am: BC election administrators ready to use hand sanitizer for voters and personal protective equipment for poll workers in pandemic plan similar to the one recently used in New Brunswick .

Elections BC spokesperson Andrew Watson said staff have consulted with their counterparts in the Eastern Province, where voters were the first in Canada to vote during COVID-19, in case the Prime Minister John Horgan would call an election in the fall.

Watson said election administrators in Saskatchewan were preparing for a vote to be held on Oct. 26, adding that his office began working with provincial health officials in April as the reality of a pandemic and possible election were preparing.

Besides purchasing security items, making sure physical distancing protocols are followed is part of training election officials, he said.
