Best Friends recently appeared on the AEW Unrestricted podcast and chatted about their experiences with the company. They also reflected on their careers before AEW. Here are some highlights:

On Trent’s mom involved with angles on AEW:

Trent: So [AEW Fyter Fest,] him and me were just watching the show, and we’re like, he’s the fourth person driving a car.

Chuck Taylor: “We were sitting in the crowd, you know, we were there during Dynamite, like sitting in the crowd.”

Trent: “There were a couple of weeks where everyone was driving. Cody walked in, with his little truck, and hit a box or something, and then we were like, jokingly, I think I said it would be funny if my mom dropped us in a van.

Taylor: “And I was like, yeah absolutely, let’s do this. And I think it was six days before we actually did it, I think it was the week before, something like that, I was like, “Yeah, we gotta do that”, and we went tell tony [Khan] and he’s like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah.’ ”

Trent: “And she was all excited about it, really excited about it, she loves doing things. She is a small mark for herself.

Taylor: “We were probably really lucky to travel. We were sporadically on Dynamite, I would say, and we were on Dark a lot, which, you know, obviously happy to do, but during the pandemic, like when the list went down, we were lucky to be featured more on Dynamite, and oddly enough, has been on Dynamite almost every week since. And I just say thank you my God for this pandemic [laughs.] It was so weird.

On the Gentlemen’s Club faction:

Taylor: “It was me, Orange Cassidy, Drew Gulak and the Swamp Monster, who was a grown man, sometimes a grown woman in a ghillie suit that I bought from a hunting site, and it really is all i got about it. Dolph Ziggler was Swamp Monster once at the UCB Theater in New York, WCW’s Daffney was Swamp Monster once. Lots of prestigious swamp monsters. Pete Dunne was at the King of Trios for a year.

On the “rivalry” with NXT:

Taylor: “People might be talking about this fake bull – the rivalry between AEW and NXT, I think, they’re all my friends. I was a best man at Johnny Gargano’s wedding, as I want them to be successful, not at the expense of us, subconsciously hope they lose and die forever, but they are my friends.
