Chelsea Transfer News LIVE: Declan Rice, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Edouard Mendy, Marash Kumbulla

Chelsea are looking to change West Ham’s stance on Declan Rice, although it seems like a tough negotiation at this point with the Hammers desperate to retain the England international. The main activity in the next few days appears to be going out as Frank Lampard prepares to slim down his squad.

The astonishing summer in the market saw the arrivals of Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz and Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell join Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech and RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner as defenders Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr arrived on free transfers of Ligue 1.

Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is expected to arrive from Rennes soon, with Kepa Arrizabalaga showing no sign of improvement against Brighton on Monday. Emerson seems destined to leave with Inter Milan and West Ham, while Marcos Alonso looks set to stay and compete with Chilwell for playing time.

The pressure has increased on Frank Lampard’s Chelsea this season after spending more than £ 200million in the summer transfer window.

Frank Lampard has bolstered his squad with the signings of Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Thiago Silva, along with others, and Chelsea are expected to close the gap to Liverpool and Manchester City this quarter.

But that does not worry Chelsea center-back Kurt Zouma, who has played down the expectations of Lampard’s side. He said:

“We don’t have to prove anything to people. What I would say is that we are just focusing on ourselves.

“Of course Chelsea are a team playing for the titles. It’s going to be a tough game, two great teams are fighting. It’s gonna be great to watch.

“Last season Liverpool completely dominated the season, they had a great winning streak. They barely lost, but it’s another year. Everyone is starting from zero.

“We’ll see what we can do. We want to compete with the best.

“They have a big front three, but we also have our weapons. We can hurt them. “

Gary Neville has expressed fears about Thiago Silva’s ability to adjust to the Premier League at 35.

The center-back has signed for Chelsea on a one-year deal with PSG and Neville is concerned he may not match the intensity of the Premier League.

He said on Sky Sports: “ Again, he’s a stranger. 35 [years old], 36 years old next week, has been playing in the French championship for several years.

“The intensity of the French championship has nothing to do with our championship.

“It doesn’t mean that Paris Saint-Germain aren’t a great team, they just made it to the Champions League final, but you’re talking about the Premier League. “

Conor Gallagher, 20, is set to secure a loan from Premier League rivals West Brom.

Chelsea coach Frank Lampard has been in talks with West Brom counterpart Slaven Bilic to allow the England midfielder to temporarily switch to the Hawthorns.

According to the Daily Mail, Lampard wants Gallagher to sign a new deal with Chelsea before transferring the loan to West Brom.

The report says a deal has been made and Gallagher could be at the Midlands club in time for his away game at Everton this Saturday.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is once again the target of Bayern Munich according to Sky Germany.

Last year the Bundesliga champions made several offers for the 19-year-old, but they were all turned down by Chelsea before Hudson-Odoi signed a new five-year contract to stay at Stamford Bridge.

However, Frank Lampard brought in Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech this summer and Hudson-Odoi’s future at the club has been in doubt.

Chelsea are believed to be willing to leave me on loan with Bayern the favorites to sign. RB Leipzig and Juventus are also monitoring the situation.

Chelsea’s signing of Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is expected to be announced in the coming days, according to talkSPORT.

They say the move is almost complete with a deal made for the 28-year-old in the region of £ 18million.

Reports from France say the deal has been delayed as Rennes try to bring Fikayo Tomori to the club as part of the deal.

Frank Lampard defended Ruben Loftus-Cheek from criticism and called for patience with the midfielder, highlighting his long absence due to injury.

Gary Neville claimed Chelsea would eventually ‘cash in’ Loftus-Cheek, and the midfielder repeatedly failed to seize the chances he was offered.

Loftus-Cheek suffered an Achilles injury in the summer of 2019 and missed most of last season.

Chelsea’s summer spending is almost identical to that of the entire Bundesliga combined.

Transfermarkt put Chelsea’s spending at € 223m and those of the 18 Bundesliga clubs at € 224m.

Chelsea signed Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz for £ 75million and RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner for £ 48million earlier this summer.

They are expected to add Edouard Mendy to their summer roster list, which also includes Thiago Silva, Malang Sarr, Ben Chilwell and Hakim Ziyech.

Sky Sports believes Olivier Giroud is still on Juventus’ radar but will only be signed if Andrea Pirlo misses his favorite targets Luis Suarez and Edin Dzeko.

Roma’s attempt to sign Arkadiusz Milik from Napoli will be key to Dzeko’s future. They are unlikely to sanction the sale of Dzeko without first securing a replacement.

An agreement for Milik on loan with obligation to purchase has apparently been made, but not yet completed.
