The Academy of Country Music Awards aim to recognize contributions to the genre.
To do so, Artist of the Year nominee Carrie Underwood took the stage to perform a mix of songs from some of country music’s most iconic women.

“Patsy and Loretta, Martina and Barbara, Reba and Dolly. These strong voices mean so much to me and to all the other female artists who stand on their shoulders, ”Underwood said. “These are some of my heroes, and I am very honored to stand by their side as a member of the Grand Ole Opry. It is my pleasure to pay tribute to these legendary women as we celebrate the 95th anniversary of the Opry.
The “American Idol” alum performed at the Grand Ole Opry House, one of three venues where this year’s virtual event airs. Other performances take place at the Bluebird Cafe and the Ryman Auditorium.
For her tribute, Underwood donned a red floral-print mid-calf dress.

The performance was praised by fans online.
“Ummm @carrieunderwood you are GOALS,” singer Carly Pearce said online. “That last note, all the tribute… thank you for always being so loyal to country music and the amazing @opry. “
Kelsea Ballerini has suggested that Underwood was, in fact, the Artist of the Year after the performance.
“Carrie Underwood just showed why she’s the Artist of the Decade,” wrote one fan. “The country music industry is fortunate to have you @carrieunderwood. This performance was spectacular, you left the world breathless. ”
