Beauty routine and advice from Catherine O’Hara

If you’re in your late twenties or early thirties, you were probably first introduced to actress Catherine O’Hara as Kevin’s mom in Alone at home. Before that, it was another motherly role, albeit slightly darker, like Delia Deetz in Beetlejuice. And, most recently: her 2020 Emmy nominated lead role as the eccentric (to say the least) mom of Alexis and David Ruisseau Schitt.

And yet, even at the age of 66, she is more beautiful than ever – without the help of any work I could add. The star credits her ability to age confidently naturally as an actress in part thanks to the roles she has played. “Character roles certainly age better than your engineers. You can’t keep doing this, ”said Catherine Today in 2006. While she was able to keep her private life just that – private – there are a few beauty nuggets I could find about actress and character Moira Rose.

Her makeup artist is a skincare enthusiast.

Catherine worked with makeup artist Lucky Bromhead for all six seasons of Ruisseau Schitt and on even more projects before that, so it’s likely she learned a few tips while sitting in her makeup chair. We’re going to guess that this includes Lucky’s affinity for skin care. The makeup artist told Dave Lackie that prepping the skin for makeup is so important that she sends her stars out for facials and then sends them home with a full collection of skin care products. She also shared that one of her makeup / skincare tips is to apply a jelly eye mask under her eyes and leave them on while she applies eye makeup. Not only do they cool and deplete, but they also catch eye makeup that can fall off while she is working.

She uses this lipstick and its application to create Moira’s signature red lip.

“My favorite thing about Moira’s look are her lips,” Lucky told Dave Lackie. “Red was the obvious choice for a confident and elegant woman. We’re drastically reshaping the cupid-less lip arc, and, for me, that really puts the finishing touches on the fabulousness of former actress, forever fashionable Moira Rose. “The combo she uses to create the look: MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in Ruby Woo and their Stripdown Lip Liner.

She devotes herself to an elaborate facial treatment before the awards ceremony.

Renowned esthetician Joanna Vargas shared with NewBeauty than preparing Catherine for this year’s SAG Awards (remember the in-person awards show?Sigh…), she treated her skin with her Triple Crown Facial, designed to help sculpt the face for a more lifted appearance. The $ 250 treatment is “a unique combination of microdermabrasion, microcurrent, and oxygen-infused therapy to refine, lift, and tone your skin,” according to the Vargas website.

She never worked.

When requested by Today if she ever considered a facelift, she responded by saying, “I’m afraid of needles, except acupuncture needles. That said, it’s all about investing in your own skin. “I wouldn’t mind spending a little more time, effort and money on good skin care. And I’m sure they will come up with, as they do, more and more non-invasive and healthy treatments to keep your face looking as beautiful as possible. But no. No! ”

Her makeup artist swears by this “impact-proof” makeup.

Lucky shared with Refinery29 that “Foolproof, foolproof cosmetics are essential to working with O’Hara, who is perhaps one of Hollywood’s most expressive comedic actors. Her favorite products are all MAC and two of her favorite products are Prep + Prime Fix + Spray and Prep + Prime Skin. “I wish I could explain to you how awesome she is with her face, in so many ways,” Lucky says.
