MARTINEZ IS NOT GUARANTEED TO BE ‘AUTOMATIC NO 1’

He’s ready to play, whether he’s our automatic No.1 depends on what he does in training and games. He played against us a few weeks ago and he played in the Community Shield so he’s probably had more games than our goalies. In terms of preparation, it is 100%.

SMITH RAVI TO LAND MARTINEZ

We know how well Arsenal rated him and we watched his outstanding performances last season in a top team that won a trophy. We moved for Emi when we saw the opportunity as it is rare to be able to buy a top notch goalkeeper who has not yet reached his maximum age and therefore can be a key player for our club on the long term.

TURIN COMPLICATED TORREIRA OFFERS

Talks continue between Arsenal and Serie A Torino over midfielder Lucas Torreira, but it has been reported that the Italian side are complicating negotiations.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has told Torreira he has little future in the Emirates this season and the player is constantly linked with a return to Italy.

Torino appears to be the most serious contender for his services, but the Daily Star reports that the Granata are looking to insert a myriad of clauses into the deal.

It is reported that Torino would loan out the Uruguayan initially and only keep Torreira permanently if a series of goals are met.

These would include qualifying for the Europa League, recording a specific number of appearances, goals and assists, and receiving a number of international orders.

Arsenal are claiming £ 22million for the 24-year-old.
