Alan Partridge’s 11-foot brass statue appears in Norwich city center

The iconic character, played by Steve Coogan in a variety of BBC series, including I am Alan Partridge and This time with Alan Partridge, was celebrated with a large brass model, which is currently at the Forum until Saturday (September 26).

The work was created by sculptors Nick Dutton and Gavin Fulcher, who work in film and have worked on the statue sporadically over the past three years.

In the artwork, Alan is dressed in a suit, an argyle tank top and a polo collar while standing on a rock and hugging a cup of tea.

The base on which the statue stands is inscribed with the character’s slogan: “Aha!”

Describing the project as “a little bit of fun,” the couple said the statue was a “gift to Norwich”, the town Alan is from.

“When you go to college and meet new people you say you’re from Norwich and people instantly mention Alan Partridge,” Fulcher said BBC News.

“He’s so synonymous with the city, and people have taken him too.”

Coogan recently launched a podcast called Partridge called From the Oasthouse, which is exclusively available for listening on Audible.
