4 people, including 2 teenagers, found dead inside Oshawa home after shooting: police

Four people, including two teenagers, were found dead in an Oshawa home early this morning following a shooting, according to Durham Regional Police.

Officers were called to a residence on Parklane Avenue near Harmony Road North and King Street East at around 1:20 a.m. after receiving “numerous calls” for gunfire inside a house, Cst. George Tudos told reporters at the scene Friday morning.

“We had multiple response units from all of our divisions, including our tactical support unit,” Tudos said. “When they arrived at the scene, they also heard what they believed to be gunshots from a residence. They were eventually able to enter one of the residences here on Parklane, where they made a gruesome discovery of four people who had died inside a residence.

Tudos said a woman who was also found inside the house suffering from a gunshot wound was taken to hospital in serious condition but not putting her life at risk.

The deceased victims, Tudos said, are believed to be two adults and two children in their early teens.

“We are still waiting for the coroner’s presence and we hope he will give us a little more information on the age and identification of the deceased parties,” he added.

Tudos said police are not currently looking for any suspects.

“We believe that one of the deceased inside this residence is the alleged suspect,” he told reporters. “We are still waiting to confirm this, but there is no indication that there is a suspect at large and at this time we can confirm that there is no community safety issue.

Tudos said it was too early to comment on the circumstances that led to the shooting.

“We are in the early stages of this investigation,” he said. “Right now we’re holding the scene and awaiting the arrival of our homicide squad and somehow a better understanding of what exactly happened and what led to this shooting.
