As for the identities of the 15 players announced by the Jets as having joined their practice squad, the names if not the faces should be familiar to Jets fans. All 15 had just finished attending Green & White training camp.
Some highlights from Sunday’s P-Squad Jets roster:
■ The team brought back the two quarterbacks that were released on Saturday by reconnecting with David Fales and Mike White. So the five QBs who attended training camp that just ended are still with the squad as PS’s Fales and White join active QBs Sam Darnold, Joe Flacco and rookie James Morgan.
■ In the past, only players with two or fewer NFL seasons were eligible for practice teams, but this rule was rescinded this year. Seventh-year WR Donte Moncrief, first signed by the Jets on Aug. 31, sixth-year QB Fales and fourth-year TE Ross Travis are now on the Jets’ practice squad.
■ The Kaufusis are back. Bronson Kaufusi, who moved from DL to TE at the end of camp, and his younger brother Corbin, the 6-9 offensive lineman, were both drafted into the practice squad.
■ Four WRs return to the green and white fold – Moncrief; DJ Montgomery (acquired on exemption from Cleveland Aug. 30), Josh Malone (who spent most of last season on the Jets’ PS) and undrafted 6-5 rookie Lawrence Cager.
■ High school was approached in a similar fashion with the signings of three rookie CBs – Javelin Guidry, Lamar Jackson and waiver van Zane Lewis – and third-year S Bennett Jackson.
■ The four DB are the only signatories of the training team in defense among the 15 signed players announced, the 11 other signatories being on the offensive side of the ball.
