2 Edmontonians have been fined for not wearing a mask since it became mandatory

EDMONTON – The City of Edmonton has said two tickets have been issued since August 1 for failing to wear a face mask in a public space or indoor vehicle. Tickets were distributed to people not wearing masks on the LRT system.

According to the city, staff took an education-focused approach with the two people not wearing masks, and a free mask was offered in both cases.

The fine for each violation of the Temporary Mandatory Face Mask regulation is $ 100.

The city thanks the majority of Edmontonians for meeting the mask requirement and for putting disposable masks and gloves in the trash.

The regulation came into effect on August 1 and is expected to last until December 31, 2020.
