12 more cases of COVID-19 in Waterloo region


Waterloo Region Public Health is reporting 12 new cases of COVID-19 on its information dashboard.Eight more cases have been added as of today, while four cases have been added to yesterday’s tally.

This brings the total number of cases in Waterloo region to 1,692.

There are no additional deaths linked to the virus, keeping the total at 120.

The number of active cases stands at 153, with one patient currently in hospital.

A total of ten outbreaks are in effect, including three daycares and one active outbreak at Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate Institute.

84% of all cases are considered resolved.

Below is the provincial breakdown of COVID-19 for Sunday:

  • 49,831 cases in total (491 new)
  • 112 patients are currently hospitalized with the virus
  • 42,796 cases resolved (85.9%)
  • 3.8 million tests were performed
  • 2,839 deaths (two new)

In a tweet, Health Minister Christine Elliott said there were 137 cases in Toronto today, including 131 in Peel Region and 58 in Ottawa.

Elliott added that 63% of the cases involved people under the age of 40.
