Director Zack Snyder working hard on his next zombie movie, Army of the dead, which is heading to Netflix. The film had finished filming, but recent allegations against one of the stars of the film, the comedian Chris D’Elia, prompted the studio to oust the actor and replace him in the film with a comedian and Star Trek: Discovery actress Tig Notaro.
D’Elia, known for his roles in the series Indateable and your, has been accused of sexually harassing underage girls on social media, which he denies. The actor didn’t just lose on his Army of the dead role, but also the unscripted prank show he was attached to on Netflix. It was also dropped by CAA and 3Arts.
Army of the dead will return to production as soon as the studio decides it is safe to do so. Reruns will include the actual shoot as well as Notaro acting opposite a partner on green screen with CG mixed in. The film “follows the aftermath of a zombie epidemic in Las Vegas and a group of mercenaries who venture into the quarantine zone to pull off a big heist.
Notaro joins the rest of the set which includes Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana De La Reguera, Theo Rossi, Huma Qureshi, Omari Hardwick, Hiroyuki Sanada, Garret Dillahunt, Matthias Schweighofer, Raul Castillo, Nora arnezeder, and Samantha Win.
The film is currently slated for a 2021 release.
