Why Richard Hammond isn’t presenting Total Wipeout as he returns after eight years tonight


Total Wipeout finally returns tonight after eight years – but it might sound a little different from how fans will remember it.Host Richard Hammond will not be returning to the show alongside co-star Amanda Byram.

Instead, Freddie Flintoff and Paddy McGuinness will step in to host the show tonight in their “Takeover.”

Richard featured Total Wipeout for five series from 2009 to 2012, which acted as a studio commentator for the challenges.

During this time, Amanda was with the competitors participating in the obstacle course in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Richard severed his ties with the BBC three years after Total Wipeout was cut after he, James May and Jeremy Clarkson left Top Gear following the latter’s dismissal from the car program.

Instead, the trio were signed to Amazon Prime for The Grand Tour from 2016, which saw them become Britain’s highest-earning TV stars last year after earning £ 86,783 per day.
