Vinnie Jones says he’s “waiting for the day” he reunites with his late wife Tanya


Vinnie Jones has shared his grief over the death of his wife Tanya last year and has admitted he “waits until the day” when they can be reunited. The ex-footballer, 55, was devastated after his 25-year-old partner lost his battle with cancer in July 2019.

In an excerpt from his new book, Lost Without You, published by The Sun, Vinnie goes into the heartbreaking details of Tanya’s death – confessing that he held her as she died and “felt the pain leave her.”

She had spent years battling cancer after battling cervical cancer twice before being diagnosed with skin cancer in 2013, which then spread to her brain.

He wrote: “I was holding her in her arms when she took her last breaths.

“I felt the pain leave her. It had been six years of pain, but now she was flying away, the Bells of Pain flying from her body. I felt Tanya leave.

Vinnie called Tanya his “everything” and battled the disease with “incredible grace”.

He went on to explain that he often feels lost in his grief and lives a “half-life” until he sees his wife again.

Vinnie added, “Sometimes I tell people I’m just waiting to be reunited with Tans. I guess somehow I’m hanging around, half alive, until I can see her again.

“Everyone’s trying to talk me out – ‘You’re not old, Vin,’ they say, ‘You’re healthy, you’ve got plenty of time.’

“But that’s how I feel some days. I just wait, I kick the heels, I pass the time, I keep busy, I hit golf balls in a sea of ​​sadness.

Vinnie and Tanya had been together for 27 years and he shared a son and stepdaughter with her.

She was only 53 when she died.

Vinnie previously told the Mirror that after the tragedy he avoided hitting the bottle again after eight years of abstinence.

He now tries to stay active, but still talks to Tanya every day.

The star also sees a therapist three times a week to help her cope.
