Trump accuses ‘deep state’ of delaying vaccine until after election

Donald Trump has claimed that the “deep state” is sabotaging efforts to obtain a vaccine against the coronavirus until the end of the election.

In a Twitter rant published on Saturday morning, the president said, “The Deep State, or whoever, at the FDA, makes it very difficult for drug companies to get people to test vaccines and therapeutics.

Obviously they are hoping to delay the response after November 3.rd. Must focus on speed and save lives!

Mr. Trump appointed the chief of the Food and Drug Administration, Dr. Stephen Hahn, for this role last year.

Researchers around the world are rushing to develop a vaccine against Covid-19.

They usually take years of testing before spending extra time producing them on a large scale.

However, scientists hope to produce a vaccine against the coronavirus within 12 to 18 months.

Mr Trump then criticized the FDA’s decision to revoke its authorization for emergency use of hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine to treat Covid-19

Mr Trump subsequently followed up on these tweets with yet another denunciation of the FDA’s decision to revoke its emergency use authorization for hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine for the treatment of Covid-19 amid mounting evidence that it is “unlikely that effective treatments” for the virus.

Without referring to any, he added, “A lot of doctors and studies don’t agree with that! ”

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said on Friday that the number of coronavirus deaths increased from 1,074 to 173,490.

It also reported 5,551,793 cases, an increase of 44,864.
