Tour de France 2020, third stage – Full results and ranking: Caleb Ewan wins the sprint in Sisteron

Caleb Ewan boosted morale at Lotto-Soudal camp on Monday after the Australian sprinter won the third stage of the Tour de France. After losing two Lotto-Soudal teammates – John Degenkolb and Philippe Gilbert – following a disappointing opening stage in Nice on Saturday, Ewan started this hilly 198-kilometer stage through the Alpine foothills with fewer supporters than his rivals.

However, Ewan was delivered to the finish line before the little sprinter, running into a headwind, used his small frame to his advantage.

Making his way through a tight peloton, Ewan spoke ahead of Irish national champion Sam Bennett (Deceuninck-Quick Step) who finished second, while Italian and European road racing champion Giacomo Nizzolo (NTT) finished in third place.

The Tour de France continues on Tuesday with the 157 km race from Sisteron to Orcières-Merlette and ends in Paris on September 20 with the 122 km stage from Mantes-la-Jolie to Paris Champs-Élysées.
