LONDON (AP) – Thousands of people in Britain and France are seeking refuge from the scorching heat, harassment of beaches and parks despite warnings to stay away from others amid the COVID-19 pandemic. With the pandemic limiting the ability to travel abroad, Britons needing sea air after months of containment have imposed the rules to stay away. Parks were also crowded as people sought shade as forecasters warned the public to take extra precautions in the heat. Mercury is expected to rise to 37 degrees Celsius (98.6 Fahrenheit) in the south-east of England amid a heatwave that will last all weekend. Temperatures in parts of France are expected to reach 42 degrees Celsius (107 Fahrenheit).
