When a scandal erupts around a celebrity, you suddenly find yourself looking at everything they’ve done in a new light. With the news of what was going on behind the scenes of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, it makes everyone look aside at every act of charity, every message of kindness, basically anything the show has ever done. Everything is pretty much corrupted due to the way some hateful things would have been behind the scenes.
The point is, however, that we wonder if we should be surprised. The Ellen DeGeneres Show got pretty mean at times. Even though he was dressed in jokes and laughs, maybe we should look at those moments in a whole new light. Maybe those moments really showed that, yes, Ellen and her show were pretty mean all along.
Here are five moments of The Ellen DeGeneres Show it makes us feel different in light of everything we’ve learned recently.
Trying to force Mariah Carey to drink
Mariah Carey had a whirlwind of pregnancy rumors surrounding her in 2008. Naturally, with all of these rumors, Ellen asked her if they were true when she got on the job. Spectacle Ellen DeGeneres. Carey, of course, wouldn’t say one way or the other. So Ellen tried to trick her into trying to get her to drink alcohol to prove that she was not pregnant.
Carey refused and suffered a miscarriage weeks after appearing on the show. Thinking back to the scene, she was cringey before. Don’t force someone to drink anyway. In addition, it shed light on issues such as fetal alcohol syndrome. Adding that Carey was pregnant and had a miscarriage? It’s the worst kind of look possible.
Blake Shelton and the Clock
Blake Shelton appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and received a clock. Well, the next time he came back? Ellen raised the clock. And, oh boy, there was apparently some shenanigans behind the scenes regarding this creepy clock. One of the crew came to Shelton and demanded the return of the clock. He never saw him again!
To Shelton’s credit, he called the blame on Ellen’s face on his own talk show. In the grand scheme of things, at least in Hollywood, you want to be nice to celebrities, don’t you? Or do you want to sting the fandom bear? Fans have tried to ruin people’s careers for less. Either way, this shows that a large part of the crew of the Spectacle Ellen DeGeneres had no respect for each other or for their guests.
YouTube beauty vlogger NikkieTutorials didn’t have the ideal dating experience when she stepped out as a trans (basically she was blackmailed). Go on Spectacle Ellen DeGeneres, Nikkie thought the experience would be enjoyable. After all, Ellen is LGBTQ + and has this whole ‘be nice’ philosophy, right? False. Nikkie was more than happy to share how uncomfortable and uncomfortable she felt when she appeared.
During an appearance on The world evolves, she said, “Call me naive, but I expected to be greeted with confetti cannons: ‘Welcome to The Ellen DeGeneres Show! ‘But instead, I was greeted by an angry intern who was a little overworked. I was expecting a Disney show, but got Teletubbies After Dark.
Taylor Swift seems to be in a better place than she was during her Reputation days. Or, at least, albums like Lover and folklore give us that impression. Seriously, however, we had to leave the poor woman’s back for her love life! Ellen hasn’t really helped matters on that front.
When Swift appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Ellen decided to play a “game” with Swift. In it, she had a slideshow of Swift’s supposed romantic entanglements. Swift was told to “ring a bell” for everyone she was dating. It put her on the spot in such a big and humiliating way. Plus, there were definitely some slutty vibes.
Stand up, Ellen. Dakota Johnson was there for anyone’s shiitake mushrooms when she appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2019. Even if we cannot replace it 50 shades of GrayThe internet tells Dakota Johnson how much she read Ellen when Ellen attempted an ambush tactic over how Johnson hadn’t invited her to her birthday.
Johnson confirmed that Ellen was invited, which makes its producer confirm it. She even went so far as to say that she thought Ellen didn’t like her based on her past experiences. To top it off, Johnson called Tig Notaro his favorite comedian in Ellen’s face. What a queen.
