panels showcased with big names this weekend, including and director Matt Reeves at Event. They delivered in massive amounts, showing off The Batman’s first major trailer for the DC Comics movie slated for late next year.
Newthe images are dark, brutal and, yes, mysterious. We see in one scene that Pattinson’s Dark Knight will bring a violent and relentless fighting style. Trying to figure out his role in fighting Gotham’s evil, he’s unsure how he fits in to help Gotham PD.
“We’ll see Batman grow up, make mistakes… and be imperfect,” Reeves said during the panel. “We can also see him being the greatest sleuth in the world. ”
We have also seen, like Gotham boss Carmine Falcone, (well we hear his voice), and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon.
The cast also includes(a complete makeover, it turns out we see briefly in the trailer), Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham Attorney Gil Colson, and Jayme Lawson as Gotham’s mayoral candidate Bella Reál.
Reeves said during the panel that all of the villains are just beginning, so we’ll see Catwoman, Penguin, and Riddler at the start of their criminal endeavors.
As for the plot, the trailer hints that Batman will hunt a shadowy killer, following the storyline from the black-influenced comic book The Long Halloween which sees Falcone hire the Rogues gallery of Batman Villains, including including Catwoman and Penguin, to take her down.
We’ll also find Batman in his early years – year two, to be exact. It should be noted that the film will not be set on the same Earth as other DC films like Justice League, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman.
Reeves, best known for the Planet of the Apes movies, dropped aearlier this year.
In the panel, Reeves also spoke briefly about thethis focuses on the first year, when the Gotham Police Department is rife with corruption. The series will be from the perspective of a cop grappling with good and evil, while trying to save his own soul.
