The five winners of DWCS Season 4: Week 2 walked away with UFC contracts in Las Vegas.
Impa Kasanganay, TJ Laramie, Cory McKenna, Adrian Yanez and Dustin Stoltzfus are all heading to the UFC, UFC president Dana White confirmed after the second fight card of the season.
Two middleweight finishers Stoltzfus and Pyfer showed a lot of respect for each other’s power to pitch the main event, and things started to heat up later in the round. The two guys started the fight with more of a feeling process. Pyfer landed a few heavy kicks that caught the attention of Stoltzfus, who fired back.
Pyfer started to shoot his opponent with punches and Stoltzfus continued to score with hard kicks. The Philadelphia native timed an out beautifully with around two minutes left in the first round and Stoltzfus was working for a triangle attempt in the back. Pyfer landed a few hard knocks and Stoltzfus went for a leg lock.
As the two guys got to their feet, Stoltzfus lifted Pyzer up into the air and attempted a slam. Pyzer, unfortunately, attempted to prepare for the fall with his right arm and suffered an elbow dislocation, which kicked off the fight, earning Stoltzfus a first-round TKO.
Co-headlining Adrian Yanez clinched the fifth-fastest spot in Contender Series history by knocking out Brady Huang in just 39 seconds via TKO.
Laramie, a Canadian prospect, landed the first finish of the night’s card as he overcame tough points on the field to deliver fierce ground to Daniel Swain until the horn sounded. Swain was unable to continue after sustaining an apparent rib injury, forcing the cage doctor to stop him before the second round.
Kasanganay improved to 2-0 on the Contender Series with a unanimous decision victory over Anthony Adams. Additionally, White announced that Kasanganay has already accepted a fight for his Octagon debut at the UFC’s Aug 22 event.
