After the end of Stranger things 3, the sunny and colorful slice of Netflix’s retro teen horror sensation, I wouldn’t be surprised if the conclusion of The Upside Down saga and all the fun kids that fall and come out of it hits its mark. end! Not so! In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, showmakers The Duffer Brothers revealed that season 4 – aka Stranger Things 4 – will not be the end of the series.
As Ross Duffer explained, they’ve known about the arc for the whole series for quite some time now:
The fourth season will not be the end. We know what the end is and we know when it will be. [The pandemic] gave us time to look to the future, to figure out what is best for the show. Starting to fill in that has given us a better idea of how much time we need to tell this story.
Speaking of a pandemic, a delay in starting production gave the writing team enough time to get the scripts in order. As Matt Duffer says, “We had a lot more time to work on the scripts. For the first time, we have all the scripts written and we are able to look at it as a whole and make adjustments.
So they know how the whole series ends, how season four fits, and have each script prepped and ready to go. When can they start touring, already? Oh, that’s right, that pesky pandemic thing. Ross said it best, “Everyone is excited to be back to work, but the safety of the cast and crew is the top priority, and that will dictate our return.” Until then: start speculating on what Stranger Things 4, and the rest of the series, might look like.
