Sixteen refugee children resettled in France


Sixteen of the 350 unaccompanied refugee children who will be transferred to France from Greece left on Friday, the migration office said in a press release.

Close Greco-French cooperation now extends to the migration challenge. We deeply appreciate France’s position and look forward to a further extension and strengthening of our cooperation, ”said Deputy Minister for Migration and Asylum, Giorgos Koumoutsakos.

The mission takes place as part of the resettlement program for 1,600 unaccompanied children to EU countries.

In addition, France is committed to welcoming, in addition to the 350 children, families of asylum seekers, the number of which stands at 400.

The next group of children to fly to France is scheduled to leave on August 24.
