A singer was hit by a train and killed while broadcasting live while listening to loud music in his car on a Romanian railway crossing.

Footage shows Tavy Pustiu, 29, dancing to ‘manele’ pop-folk music as he approaches a level crossing in Ploiesti with his wife at the wheel.

In the clip, the 24-year-old can be seen looking left and right as she approaches the crossing – but she clearly fails to spot the speeding locomotive.

Moments later, Mr. Pustiu lets out a terrified cry as he notices the train rushing towards the car.

The train slammed into the side of the white Ford Fiesta, tearing off the roof of the vehicle and destroying the passenger side where the musician was sitting.

The images in the sequel also show how both airbags activated on impact and the windshield was completely crumpled.

Prahova County authorities have confirmed that Mr Pustiu was killed in the crash while his wife, who has not been named, remains in critical condition.

She is said to be fighting for her life at Prahova County Hospital.

In a statement, police said: “Following a collision between a train and a car at the crossing, a 29-year-old man who was the passenger in the front of the car was pronounced dead and elderly. 24 years old. the old woman who was the driver was injured.
