Simon Cowell thanks medics after crashing in crashed electric bike

Simon Cowell thanked the medical staff who treated him in Los Angeles following a bicycle accident in which he broke part of his back.

The music mogul and talent show judge sent “a huge thank you to all the nurses and doctors” calling them “the nicest people I’ve ever met.”

Cowell was rushed to hospital after falling from his new electric bike in the yard of his home in Malibu.

The 60-year-old said he should have ‘read the manual’ before driving it.

“Some great tips… If you are buying an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time,” he tweeted.

He thanked fans and friends for their “kind messages” and urged them all to “stay safe”.

Cowell underwent surgery on Saturday night that involved a number of procedures, including placing a metal rod in his back.

His spokesperson said he had “broken his back in several places” and was “fine”.

Cowell, who has six-year-old son Eric with partner Lauren Silverman, is said to have tested his new bike when the crash happened.

He had a previous fall in 2017, when he fell down the stairs at his London home.

Amanda Holden was among those who wished her “dear friend” good luck on social media.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge said he was “doing very well” after his operation and wished him “a speedy recovery”.

Piers Morgan also wished him luck after what he described as “a very bad accident”.

It is understood that Eric was with his father when the accident happened.
