Best competitive night we’ve seen this whole season and only five of them will advance – how much heartache can America bear right now?
Fact “America has talent” lack Simon Cowell already friends? After two guest stars in the past two weeks, there wasn’t even a fourth judge on the podium this week. Instead, they changed the seating arrangement for the remaining three judges, creating a more permanent visual look for this setup. In other words, they no longer think that Simon could return at any time, so there’s no point in pretending.
Tonight the Golden Buzzer is playing for both Cowell and Heidi Klum, the first giving her a hard love. Well, first they wished him luck after their performance. Then, after a while, aded, “” Read the manual before getting on a scooter, please! “ Cowell broke his back while trying an electric bike on his property and had to undergo five hours of surgery. He has since returned home recovering. Although he has suggested his intention to return by the season finale, they are taking it week by week at this point. And it looks like they’re no longer planning his return, but maybe just hoping for it. As for the show itself, these eleven acts are full of talent and ready to fight for the American vote. habitually Howie Mandel is prone to melodrama and hype, but he was exactly right that it was the best talent night of the season. We would have been happy to see more than half of these acts move forward, even if it meant losing others who have already. From incredibly talented and unique singers to a few really strong dance teams, to wrestling stories more touching than we can shake a handkerchief, “AGT” has just brought a night of breathtaking fun and we don’t. not want to see six acts go. Two or three of them, yes. They can hit the road. But the others all deserve their chance. Tonight, only five of the eleven acts will advance to the next round. Be careful, since I am safe at home, I will probably be a little harder than my colleagues Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara. But maybe I’ll be nicer too. May be. And just for fun, I’m going to rank them from worst to first to see how my favorites are doing and if you got it right (i.e. agree with me).

(singer) We’re very happy that Annie was able to live out her Hogwarts dream, but it just wasn’t at the level needed to be successful in this competition. Suddenly she looked like a talented youngster in a talent show at school, with a few bad grades throughout but a fun energy. His movements on stage were about the same level, and it’s just not the caliber that most kids bring at this point. She just isn’t ready yet, but we’ve seen glimpses of the performer she might become as she matures into a material like this.
(humorist) The most edgy misogynistic mailings might have worked with an audience entirely in your corner, but it’s the Covid era, so Usama didn’t have that luxury. As such, the awkward silences only grew and Heidi just looked uncomfortable when he saw her. Look, it wasn’t a terrible set, but it also wasn’t as strong as it needed to be at this stage of the competition. He seemed a bit shaken by the lack of audience, and we’re just not sure the material resonates the way he might have liked.
(contortionists) For some reason, it wasn’t as convincing to watch as the last time these three artists performed. Some of the stuff we had seen before and some got too done in this one routine. Plus, the dramatic twists just didn’t seem so shocking or well executed. Thye needed to step it up this time and they didn’t.

(dancers) It turns out that you can dance with a mask. DTF made a bold statement visually, but their masks were visually stylish and it actually added to the drama of their performance. It was a really fantastic choreography, showcasing their Latin flair, showing off their superstar dancers and shaking things up throughout. We would have liked a few more wow moments as it was starting to get a bit long, but it was a fun and energetic way to start the series.
(mentalist) Even as he pulled the curtain back to reveal how he put this one up, it was still powerful to see all those sun designs on the “AGT” audience screens scattered around the studio. “Even in this virtual world, we are all connected,” said Max, and that’s such an important message. As for his number, it took a bit of wind revealing how he pulled it off, but we enjoyed the ride anyway. His stage presence could use a bit of oomph, but he pulled off a convincing act nonetheless.
(air) We wish he was a little more fluid between his stunts and he didn’t repeat some of the ones we’ve seen before – or he did more variance in the air – but Alan not only remains a source. inspiration for anyone who faces adversity in life but for all those who are afraid to go beyond expectations and achieve their dreams. The stunt that broke his neck was a cool finale and the Deathstroke was very cool, but was it enough? We are not so sure.

(singer) It was a good, strong original song, but we suspect we got the shortened version, which didn’t really do it a favor. Nolan continues to have a lot of passion and emotion in his voice, which creates a connection, but it was not as strong as his first outing. He worked in a moan to remind us of what his voice can do, but it was only a glimmer. We think it should have shown a bit more to better stand out here.
(dancers) If you’re not going to have a perfect routine, these guys have delivered you the way you want. He got louder as that final groove was just magical. There is such kinetic energy in the way they move and so much life and joy in their dance, that you find yourself able to forgive moments that are a bit wild and out of control. Precious would be nice, but with such a smart use of their surroundings, the value of entertainment never falters so we can let it slip away.
(singer) A two-time artist, Sheldon is as much about his unique visual presentation as his voice. And both are pretty stellar. This track started with a haunting quality that never quite slipped into boredom and made its way into haunting vocals. He’s a true artist who could make any scene his own with a visual style as eclectic as Boy George and a voice as rich as George Michael.

(drummer) We have never seen anything like it and we will not soon forget it. Malik turned the drum into a full body experience, an art form with amazing dancing, acrobatics, juggling and percussion on stage on a myriad of drums. It’s an act on its own and not just because he’s an amazing drummer, but because he has the vision to make the drums the centerpiece… a centerpiece. And it works!
(singer) What an incredibly controlled and intentional vocal performance. Cristina is so familiar and in control of her instrument that she could make every note resound with power and purpose. This song is so overplayed on shows like this, but Cristina still managed to make it fresh and exciting. She is truly a worthy golden buzzer and an amazing talent.

Whoever divided the acts for this round of the competition really messed up because they stacked the power this third round. For the first time, there are more than half a dozen acts that we could well have seen moving forward. In fact, we’re so in awe of the talent that we think tonight could be more of the personal stories of hardships and struggles that many of these contestants have shared. “AGT” has always been as much about the artist as it is about the performance. That said, we still feel pretty good in our Top 5. The only one we’re not sure will connect so strongly is Malik DOPE, simply because the drums are such a singular talent that it’s harder to pick up. judging and appreciating on such a large scale when compared to singers, dancers and more traditional dishes. And yes, we think three singers will come forward, but they all come with strong voices and even stronger stories. Nolan Neal is the weakest of the three, so it is possible that he will be edged out by Alan Silva or Max Major. Alan has another touching story, but then again his is a very singular talent and act that perhaps doesn’t resonate so widely. And so, our final prediction will be that all of our Top 5 will pass. Maybe the judges will have to decide between Malik and Alan in the end. How happy will we all be? We’ll find out what happens if you get it right as “America’s Got Talent” continues Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Do you have a story or a tip for us?
