Even as India continues to grapple with the growing number of Covid-19 cases, recoveries from the disease have jumped to 2.22 million. As of Saturday, out of a total of 2,975,701 confirmed cases in the country, 697,330 were active while 2,222,577 people have recovered from the infection, according to the dashboard of the Ministry of Health and Family of the ‘Union. The toll of infection rose to 55,794.

India could overtake Brazil in the next two weeks if cases continue to grow at the same rate.

Meanwhile, the global coronavirus tally rose to 22,864,873, with the highest number of cases (5,621,035) reported in the United States, followed by Brazil (3,532,330), according to the Johns Hopkins University tally. The deadly infection has so far claimed 797,871 lives worldwide.
