Saskatchewan has now recorded 22 deaths of people diagnosed with COVID-19, as the province announced on Sunday that another person infected with the virus had died – the second this weekend.The deceased was aged 80 to 89 and resided in the north central area of ​​the province.

On Saturday, the province announced that a person of the same age group had died in the south-central area.

In addition to the death, the province is also reporting 15 new cases, bringing the provincial total of COVID-19 cases recorded in the province to 1,580. Of the new cases, five were reported in the southwest and south areas. from the center each, and three cases in the east-central.

The northwest, center-west and center-east areas all recorded one new case.

The number of people hospitalized remained stable at eight, but the number of people receiving intensive care fell slightly from five to four.

All of the intensive care patients are in Saskatoon. Two people receiving hospital care are located in the southwest, one in Regina and one in Saskatoon.

The majority of new cases recorded on Sunday, 12 out of 15, would be in community living settings. This is also true for the total number of active cases in the province, since of the 193 active cases, 127 are said to be in community settings.

The trips represent 222 cases of COVID-19 recorded in the province, while 809 are attributed to community contacts – which include mass gatherings – and 465 have no known exposure.

The government also notes that 84 cases of COVID-19 are still under investigation by local public health agencies.

To date, Saskatchewan has performed a total of 122,245 COVID-19 tests, including 1,759 in Saskatchewan on Saturday.
