Sask. confirms 2 new cases of COVID-19 and 19 other recoveries


REGINA – Two new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Saskatchewan on Saturday, bringing the provincial total to 1,597. In a statement, the province said one new case was in Saskatoon while the other was in the southwest area.

There are currently 117 cases considered active. The province also recorded 19 other recoveries, for a total of 1,458 recovered cases.

Five people are currently hospitalized in Saskatchewan with the virus. One person is in hospital care and four people are in intensive care, all in Saskatoon.

At regional level:

  • 412 cases in the south zone (212 south west, 189 south center, 11 south east)

  • 352 extreme north cases (346 extreme northwest, 0 extreme north center, six extreme northeast)

  • 257 cases from the north zone (123 north-west, 68 central north, 66 north-east)

  • 251 cases from the Saskatoon area

  • 194 cases from the central zone (161 center-west, 33 center-east)

  • 131 Regina area cases

More than 1,700 COVID-19 tests were carried out in the province on Friday. To date, 129,653 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan.

There have been 22 virus-related deaths in the province.
