Rangers set to receive double training boost as key man takes the hit


Rangers are expected to receive a double boost this week with Kemar Roofe and Jermain Defoe joining the squad for full training.Rangers boss Steven Gerrard had claimed Roofe announced the signing of £ 3.5million in 7-10 days before being involved with his new side following his transfer from Anderlecht.

Veteran hitman Jermain Defoe has not been involved for the Rangers since sustaining a hamstring injury in the 4-0 friendly win over Motherwell in July.

Speaking to the press after the club’s 3-0 win over St. Mirren Gerrard, goalkeeper Allan McGregor dealt a heavy blow in the loss to Bayer Leverkusen.

Jon McLaughlin, signing and goalkeeper assistant, had replaced McGregor as the Rangers maintained their perfect start to the Scottish Premiership season.

Rangers reportedly turned down a £ 16.25million offer for the player, with club Ibrox holding more than £ 20million [Daily Mail].

Amid speculation, Rangers will now be boosted by the inclusion of Roofe and Defoe as the Gers look to support a title challenge this season.
