The UK government is imposing quarantine measures on a number of countries from today, including France and Malta.British holidaymakers were rushing back to the UK before the 14-day isolation rule was imposed at 4 a.m. BST on Saturday (August 15).

The same day, an easyJet flight landed from Biarritz at 10:55 am. A Ryanair flight comes from Bergerac later in the day, followed by flights from Nice and Malta on Sunday.

The new measures will also apply to people arriving from Monaco, the Netherlands, the Turks and Caicos Islands and Aruba.

The decision was triggered when the infection rate in those countries exceeded 20 cases per 100,000 people over seven days, according to Transportation Secretary Grant Shapps.

The minister told Sky New: “This is a dynamic situation, and I don’t think anyone would want us to do anything other than protect public health and public safety.

“This means that when we see countries violating a certain level of cases, then we have no choice but to act.”

But what does this mean for holidaymakers returning via Bristol Airport?

Airport said Bristol live that he was “working closely” with the government and Public Health England on this matter.

Bristol Airport said in a statement: “Bristol Airport continues to work closely with airlines, government and Public Health England on the latest information and advice to keep our customers and colleagues safe, while providing vital air links.

“All clients are encouraged to follow the latest guidelines available on the government website.

“Safety is our top priority and customers can feel reassured as they pass through Bristol Airport with the ‘Safe Travel Starts Here’ three-step plan.”

The plan, which was announced earlier this summer, includes a number of rules to help keep travelers safe when visiting the airport.
