Royal author calls Sussex biography ‘sickening déjà vu’ of Princess Diana

Because Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, who wrote Find freedom, are friendly with the Sussexes, many royal fans believe most of the information in the book comes directly from Harry and Meghan.

A spokesperson for the couple, however, denied any involvement, insisting that “the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not interviewed and did not contribute … This book is based on the authors’ own experiences as members of the royal press corps and their own independent reporting. ”

But not everyone buys this and shows how Diana also denied having anything to do with Andrew Morton’s 1992 book titled Diana: her real story. After the princess died, Morton revealed that Diana sent him his secret audio recordings which he used as a source of information. Royal biographer Penny Junor said Find freedom reads like Diana says it all.

“Oh, what a sickening feeling of déjà vu. Read the revelations about Harry and Meghan in Find freedom The past few days, it reminded me too strangely of Andrew Morton’s book, ”Junor wrote in the Daily Mail. “It was just as explosive as this book – and proved to be deeply damaging.

Royal author Tom Bower also weighed in on Harry’s ties to the biography, saying: ‘Now he has found himself associated with a book reading like a sour litany of complaints against the people and the life that he once cherished.

Another time the Sussexes made comparisons to Harry’s late mother it was with their 2019 documentary Harry and Meghan: an African journey. The couple’s confession reminded many Panorama interview given by the Princess of Wales in 1995.

In this interview, Diana spoke about the difficulty integrating into the royal family as well as the marital issues and affairs of Charles and her. The Princess did not tell the Queen or other royals that she was giving the interview and asked the film crew to sneak into her residence in Kensington Palace.

E! News noted that the Duke and Duchess have also gone down this route by failing to inform Harry’s family of what would be revealed in their documentary. Sources said the family were “quite astonished” at the “level of personal detail” Meghan and Harry shared.

Royal correspondent Camilla Tominey said the Sussexes’ revelations at the time felt “on par with Princess Diana’s explosive shoot.”

Like Diana, the prince and elder Costume star also discussed their relationship or absence with other members of the royal family. Harry did this when he approached the breakup with his older brother Prince William and Markle did when she said no one asked her how she was coping with her new role.
