Satellite images appear to show the new AEW Xian KJ-600 aircraft embarked on a base in Xian-Yanliang in the central part of the country. The move, according to Forbes and defense analysts, heralds a new era of naval power and a major leap in development and capabilities for the Chinese navy.

Meanwhile, new footage shows the Liberation Army Navy’s Type 093 nuclear submarine (PLAN) at Yulin Naval Base in southern China’s Hainan Island Province.PlanetLabs Inc, a privately held satellite imagery company, took both images as the country was undertaking missile tests.

Bejing launched four medium-range ballistic missiles into the South China Sea between Hainan Island and the Paracels.

The US Department of Defense condemned these actions, saying they threatened regional peace and security.

In recent days, a US Navy warship has also conducted a routine operation near the Paracel Islands, which Beijing has often criticized as threatening its sovereignty.

Oriana Skylar Mastro, a fellow of the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University, said of submarines: “Chinese submarines, as they become more advanced, are always noisier than submarines. American submarines.

“But it’s not really a question of their subs versus our subs.

“It’s their submarines versus our ASWs and our submarines versus their ASWs [Anti-submarine warfare].

“If the US warships sail and cross the South China Sea without damage, they should not be concerned about the PLA exercises, as the Chinese military will not threaten passing foreign ships.

“But the intention of the United States is malicious when it sends warships to the South China Sea.”

The publication warned that “the situation in the South China Sea is becoming increasingly tense”, stressing that China wishes “to strengthen the management of military friction.”

He added, “China does not want any conflict between the two armies in the South China Sea, but the Chinese military will respond strongly if there is a provocation. PLA exercises are prepared for worst case scenarios. ”

The United States and China have been in a heated dispute over the South China Sea as Washington criticized Beijing’s efforts to exert greater control over Hong Kong and the lack of action to control the coronavirus pandemic.

Beijing has already established military outposts on the Paracel Islands and the Spratly Islands – two disputed archipelagos that the United States says undermine the sovereign rights of US partners in the region.
