Sheriff Gualtieri’s symptoms are mild and began with a loss of taste and smell. He has no fever or respiratory problems.
According to Adam Walser, investigator for the I-Team, Sheriff Gualtieri was at the three-day conference for Florida sheriffs that took place in July.
Now, there are a total of five sheriffs, one anonymous attendee, the director and deputy director of the Corrections Department, four Florida Sheriff’s Association staff who attended the conference and one who did not.
That’s a total of 13 people who have tested positive for COVID-19 and who had links to this conference.
Sheriff Gualtieri will follow the instructions of the Department of Health and stay at his home for 10 days.
He will continue to be in contact with the sheriff’s office staff and will work remotely during the time he is away from the office.
