PGA 2020 Championship: Microphones catch Tiger Woods explaining Giants-Dodgers rivalry to Rory McIlroy

Golf is a little different during the pandemic, as most tournaments don’t have fans clapping quietly in the background. While it was a bummer for fans not to be able to enjoy golf live, it allowed us to hear more of what people on the course are saying.

We’ve heard swear words, some say “fuck you”, but we’ve also seen sweeter moments between golfers. Some moments were even instructive.

At the 2020 PGA Championship, Tiger Woods taught Rory McIlroy a lesson in the rivalry between the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

McIlroy has Giants colors on his bag, which Woods didn’t appreciate as a Dodgers fan.

Woods says, “The colors of the giants … couldn’t do it,” McIlroy admits he doesn’t know enough about baseball to know what it means, so Woods teaches him a little MLB lesson.

Check out the exchange here:

Because McIlroy doesn’t know much about baseball, despite his bag being a tribute to the Giants, Woods expressed it in athletic terms he would understand.

Tiger explains that it would be like a Manchester United fan putting Liverpool’s colors on his bag. As a Man United fan, that’s a comparison Rory can take.

The PGA Championship takes place at TPC Harding Park August 6-9, and you can watch the first major of the year on CBS.
