The daughter of the late Michael Jackson and the musician – who perform together in The Soundflowers – have split after more than two years of dating, PEOPLE confirms. (TMZ was the first to break the news.)
The split comes shortly after the couple’s Facebook Watch series Unfiltered: Paris Jackson and Gabriel Glenn aired its final episode on August 4. During the episode, Jackson, 22, said that she and Glenn, 23, “were constantly banging their heads.”
“A great thing for Aries is that we’re very impatient, depending on what it is,” Jackson said. “The people we love and the things we care about, we have the patience of a saint. But it’s a very interesting dynamic. We both have stubborn double energy. I always knew I was stubborn and I knew he was stubborn because he’s a Taurus. ”
Jackson went on to say that she considers Glenn to be “one of many kindred spirits.”
“I don’t think soulmates are specifically romantic partners,” she says. “In a lifetime Gabe was probably my daughter. And in another life he was probably my grandfather and then in another life he was probably my worst enemy.
At the end of the clip, Glenn said, “I think we said when we first got together, even though we weren’t working as a couple, we would still want to be in a band together. Our music was one thing we wanted to hang onto no matter what. ”
Jackson added, “I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future. But obviously there is someone I strive to be. I want to grow up, and I want to be a better person, a better musician… but I can. I don’t do this without Gabe. Gabe showed me that love exists, not just in the movies, and it’s not as pretty as it looks in the movies – it can get ugly and it can be more beautiful than described in the movies. movies and it’s He makes me feel more alone. He impacted me, my life, and my heart in ways that I can’t even describe. I can’t see my life without him. ”
Earlier in the series, the couple discussed the evolution of their romantic relationship since they first met in April 2018, when Jackson saw Glenn perform with his band The Trash Dogs at Hollywood’s Rainbow Bar & Grill.
“I know when she was walking that my body would say, ‘Be cool’ but my brain would say, ‘Run, run’…” Glenn said in the first episode of meeting Jackson for the first time. “We went from Rainbow to an after party, and that’s when I saw her playing an unplugged guitar. It was very intimate. I knew I was walking towards a desperate fall.
From there, Jackson said, “that was pretty much on” between her and Glenn.
“We immediately vibrated,” she says. “We spent three days in a row together. Within a week, I was living in his van. “
Although Jackson was passionate about Glenn from the start, she shared that she “never thought” that she would “end up with a guy”.
“I thought I would end up marrying a girl,” she says. “I dated more women than men. ”
Jackson, who was previously linked to model Cara Delevingne, went on to say that she “wouldn’t consider me bisexual because I’ve dated more than men and women. ”
“It has nothing to do with what’s in your pants,” she says. “It has nothing to do with the makeup of your XY chromosome, it is literally who you are as a person. ”
In an interview with Remix in March, Jackson called Glenn his “muse”.
“I owe him a lot,” she said. “I started writing when I was 13 when I bought a guitar. I didn’t really start sharing or recording it until I met Gabriel. ”
In turn, Glenn called Jackson “the piece of the puzzle that completes me as an artist.”
“She creates so naturally and honestly; it inspires me to be a better songwriter, ”he said. “I think having a unique mind like hers allows us to channel things that we would never receive on our own. “
Since 2018, Jackson and Glenn have performed together under the name The Soundflowers. They released their eponymous debut EP in June.
“Paris had always wanted to create a group called The Soundflowers,” Glenn said. “The first night, PK and I spent some time together, we stuck in the rehearsal studio of my rock’n’roll band. We showed each other songs and even wrote a few on the spot. Everything fit together so naturally, from our vocals to our song-writing style. I had never met someone who matched my sound so perfectly. ”
