The area health unit today confirmed a new case of COVID-19 in Simcoe County.An Orillia woman aged 35 to 44 is the latest person to test positive for the coronavirus, according to the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit. The source of transmission of his case is under investigation.

This is the first case reported in Orillia since July 30. Previously, all Orillia cases were reported as recovered.

Yesterday, the health unit reported only one case in Muskoka and none in Simcoe County. The Muskoka case was originally listed as under investigation, but has now been reported as a travel-related case. This is the first confirmed case in the district of Muskoka since June.

The health unit reported three new recoveries today, and also noted that there was one new hospitalization – a case previously reported in Ramara.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has so far reported 669 cases of COVID-19, 637 of which are in Simcoe County.

There are now 621 cured cases and 37 people have died in the region.

There are still 11 active cases in the county, including residents of Barrie (4), Bradford (1), Orillia (1), New Tecumseth (2), Innisfil (1), Essa (1) and Ramara (1) ). There is an active case in Muskoka.

In Simcoe-Muskoka, the incidence rate of the coronavirus is 112.2 cases per 100,000 population in the population.
