Newfoundland and Labrador’s tech industry finds opportunities in Covid-19 world

COVID-19 has left in its wake a series of destruction in many sectors of the economy. However, some companies in the province’s tech sector have managed to survive and even thrive.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Technology and Innovation Association recently completed a survey of the impact of Covid-19 members and found that while 62% of its members have experienced a drop in income, 67% of its members have also experienced new opportunities.

NATI CEO Paul Preston says companies try new products, move into new industries, and expand into new regions out of necessity.

Mr. Preston says the biggest challenge facing businesses in this province is finding the talent they need to grow their businesses. He says that in a COVID-19 world, many recognize that talent is everywhere, and no matter where people are based they can work for a tech company in so many ways.
