Newcastle United have been fortunate enough to sign Irish international Jeff Hendrick. The 28-year-old midfielder has also been linked with Aston Villa and was a target for AC Milan earlier in the year.

Hendrick left Burnley for a free transfer last month and is now evaluating his next move.

In recent days, Hendrick has been a reported target for Manchester United.

The Euro 2016 player has made 122 appearances for Burnley and has scored nine goals after nearly 200 appearances for Derby County.

United were looking for midfielders with Matty Longstaff’s future still uncertain.

The England Under-20 international has reportedly been a target for Leeds United today but Newcastle have been in conversation with the midfielder since the end of the season last week.

Steve Bruce has said he wants to keep the Academy product after the 3-1 loss to Liverpool at St James’ Park.
